Famed Żywiec invests in green solutions and closes the half-year with a good result

The photovoltaic installation to be launched by Famed Żywiec will provide the manufacturer of operating tables and hospital beds with approximately one-third of its electricity needs. This is another step by the company to reduce its environmental impact. The company has had a successful first half of 2024, with revenues 30 per cent higher than in the same period last year. A Polish manufacturer of medical equipment and technology is present in 122 countries worldwide.

Since September 12 of this year, part of the electricity powering the Famed Żywiec factory is being supplied by solar panels installed on the roofs of the production plant’s halls. The delivery of the panels began in February of this year, their installation was completed by June, and now the system has been fully launched and connected to the grid. A 500 kW system will save approximately 25 per cent of annual electricity costs. The company forecasts that the investment will pay for itself in about 6 years.

The investment in the PV installation is important in a business context. There is much competition in the medical technology industry, and price is of considerable importance in many markets. There is no doubt that the effects of the investment will translate into a further increase in the competitiveness of our products, which are characterised by an excellent ratio of high quality to affordable prices, thus allowing us to achieve even better results – emphasises Marek Suczyk, President of Famed Żywiec. – At the same time, the environmental aspect cannot be underestimated. We have been active in this field for years, and I believe we can be proud of our achievements. In many of the 121 countries where the Famed Żywiec brand is present, these issues are significant to customers – he adds.

In recent years, Famed Żywiec has supplied tens of thousands of hospital and delivery beds, operating tables, gynaecological and treatment chairs or patient transport trolleys to customers in Poland and abroad.  The company has consistently improved its technological processes. Several cleaner production projects and circular economy good practices have achieved tangible results. The solutions implemented make it possible to manage 99.95 per cent of the more than 160 tonnes of post-production waste generated in the manufacture of medical equipment. Less than 100 kg goes to landfill.

We consider it a success that such a large organisation produces less than 100 kg of post-production waste going to landfill. We also provide training to raise the environmental awareness of our employees and increase their involvement in environmental activities – comments Mirosława Raszka, Quality Director at Famed Żywiec.

Famed records good results and invests in further growth

In the first half of the year, Famed Żywiec increased its sales revenue by 30 per cent compared to the same period in 2023. It totalled PLN 47.6 million. The good financial performance of the medical equipment manufacturer, which delivers Polish products to half the countries in the world, is confirmed by the title Business Gazelle.

We plan to maintain such sales growth dynamics until the end of the year, and further investments also strengthen our brand. In Q1 and Q2 of this year, they totalled more than 5 million and will exceed 7 million throughout the year. These include investment in the expansion of the machinery pool and product innovations – points out Paweł Tomala, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Famed Żywiec.

The company is planning another innovation in the operating table segment in the second half of the year, which is related to introducing a new proprietary control system.

As a result, Famed Żywiec operating tables will be unrivalled in terms of patient positioning precision, and this aspect remains crucial from a doctor’s perspective. Hospitals expect equipment that is of good quality to ensure many years of use. This trend gives us grounds for optimism. We have been consistently developing our products in this direction for years, skilfully combining extensive functionality with durability and a competitively priced offer – sums up Michał Grossy, R&D and Marketing Director at Famed Żywiec.
