The base to floor clearance is 150 mm in height and 720 mm in length to ensure full compatibility with the Famed OVO 2 infant bed. It enables the mother to safely care for her child without having to get out of bed.
The 820 mm wide bed frame ensures comfort and freedom of movement during childbirth, and adequate space for mother and child right after birth – without having to change the location. Side rails protect mother and child from falling while they are together on the bed.
A control panel located on the inside of side rails enables the patient to self-adjust the position of the bed for daily care of the newborn – without involving the staff and without having to get out of bed.
The strong and positive mother and child interaction from the first moments after birth is nothing short of magic. Ample scientific evidence leaves no doubt that this early closeness that is crucial to the baby’s development and the mother’s well-being. Direct skin-to-skin contact promotes a child’s immunity, regulates heart rate as well as increases the frequency of eye contact and social responses [1]. This was our inspiration when creating a solution that supports this process from the very beginning.

Famed FREYA is a solution that accompanies the mother at every stage of childbirth – without having to move the patient from the bed to the birthing chair and back again. This elimination of transfers reduces unnecessary stress and increases the sense of comfort while in the labour ward. With the bed the entire childbirth process can take place in one space – making it easier for the staff and giving the patient a sense of stability and continuity of care.
Foam mattresses increase the feeling of comfort while in the labour ward. A set of three elements of varying thickness and density provides optimum body support regardless of the patient’s position. The polyurethane foam matches the shape of the body, and the waterproof cover with welded seams prevents liquids from seeping in.
A wide range of adjustments helps customise the bed settings to meet the individual needs of the mother tobe. Smooth change of the height, tilt of the backrest and thigh segment supports both patient comfort and staff ergonomics. Famed FREYA gives a woman the space to find a position where she feels safe.
The Nurse Call function is accessible from a dedicated control panel in the side rail. The button located within easy reach can be used to quickly call medical personnel in an emergency. This simple solution increases the sense of comfort and security.
While the birthing experience varies from place to place and from care system to care system, what remains constant is the need to create a safe and comfortable for the female patient. It is this universal value that became the starting point for creating the Famed FREYA delivery bed. Listening to the experiences of patients and medical personnel in different countries, we designed a solution that not only responds to changing clinical realities, but most importantly supports the mother at every stage of childbirth.
Famed FREYA’s three-column design guarantees high stability even with uneven distribution of forces, which is especially important during family births. This allows the attendant to actively support the parturient in assuming various birthing positions.
The maximum load of 250 kg allows for the simultaneous presence of the parturient and a companion on the surface of the bed. This allows a companion to support the motherto- be during labor without the risk of overloading the structure.
The 820 mm wide sleep surface provides comfort and safety for the patient and attendant at every stage of labor. The larger space allows a loved one to actively support the birthing woman from either side of the bed and promotes maintaining closeness throughout the course of labor.

Birth companionship and doula support are becoming more and more popular around the world. According to reports, the market for doula care services is growing rapidly – its value is expected to reach USD 3.8 billion by 2033, with an average annual growth rate of 10.8% [2]. Over 86%of women report that the presence of a partner or loved one during labour significantly increased their sense of calm and comfort [3].

Using the control systems the patient’s position can be quickly adjusted to current medical needs – both during examination as well as delivery. This minimises the physical effort of staff and reduces response time in situations that require intervention. All bed functions can be controlled electrically.
The bed can be controlled with a wired remote control, a central panel, panels in the side rails, and an optional foot controller. This way medical personnel can quickly and conveniently adjust the position of the bed from either side.
A steel frame, energy-absorbing plastic components and a solid base guarantee strength and stability. The footrest, integrated into the base, is a comfortable step to make it easier for medical personnel to adopt an ergonomic position and ensure unobstructed access to the patient during delivery.
Medical personnel can lock selected bed functions from the central panel, thus protecting the patient from accidental position changes. This solution improves safety and prevents unauthorised changes of settings. The lock is activated from the central panel.
Pre-programmed positions, accessible at the touch of a button — including Trendelenburg position, cardiac chair, CPR, examination position and Fowler’s position — facilitate quick and precise positioning of the patient at any stage of childbirth.
Contrasting CPR levers, located on both sides of the bed, make it possible to immediately reset the bed frame position and quickly begin CPR. The electric CPR function is also available via the central panel.
Conformity with EN 60601-2-52 is a confirmation that the bed meets stringent safety and ergonomic requirements. EN 60601-2-52 standard covers requirements for support structure, stability, minimum clearances to protect against injury and effective disinfecton.
The structure, supported by three cylindrical columns, ensures stability and enables safe child delivery. Large, double wheels with a central locking mechanism protect the bed against uncontrolled rolling, ensuring safety both during childbirth and during daily care.
The distances between the handrails, bed frame and bed boards are been designed according to the requirements of the standard to minimise the risk of jamming fingers and hands.
Autoregression of the back and thigh segments reduces pressure on the abdomen and pelvis, limits shear forces and reduces the risk of slipping out of the bed. This way the patient is able to maintain a comfortable position for longer, and her tissues are better supplied with blood. It supports the physiological course of labour, improves comfort and safety, and promotes proper oxygenation of the baby.

The remote control can be used to adjust bed height, backrest and the thigh segment angle, the autocontour function, and the extension of the bed frame. LEDs on the remote control indicate when the bed is unplugged and battery charge level.
