A New Generation of Operating Tables – Famed X Line™
20 February 2026
Famed Żywiec, a Reinsberg Group company, is expanding its portfolio with operating tables equipped with a new type of base and an exceptionally precise control system. The X series operating tables have been designed for optimal cooperation with a C-arm, easier table maneuvering, and increased control precision combined with improved ergonomics. This new solution from the Polish medical equipment manufacturer provides surgeons with better access to the surgical field and allows them to maintain a comfortable body position during procedures.
Operating table ergonomics and patient safety
The shape of an operating table base plays a crucial role in operator comfort, which directly translates into patient safety. This includes, among others, facilitation of intraoperative X-ray imaging, improved access to the surgical field, and the ability for surgeons to adopt an appropriate working posture. Each of these aspects affects procedure duration and surgical precision. The new X-type base represents the next stage in the development of Famed Żywiec operating tables. Created in response to the demands of modern surgery, it replaces the previously used T- and H-type bases.
– With a single solution, we will be able to offer customers the functionalities of both versions without losing their key features. The ergonomics of an operating table are as important to a surgeon as a well-designed car interior is to a driver. Comfortable seats and proper driving conditions make long journeys easier, while shortcomings in this area lead to fatigue. Surgeons performing many-hour procedures are in a similar situation. From their perspective, something that may seem like a minor detail to an average person has a significant impact on comfort and safety at work – emphasizes Michał Grossy, Director of Product Development at Famed Żywiec.
Modern surgery—especially in laparoscopy, neurosurgery, and robotic procedures—requires exceptional precision, which is closely linked to the need for intraoperative medical imaging. As a result, medical equipment manufacturers are developing technologies that are fully compatible with other devices present in the operating room.
– Our new base is slim, has what is likely the lowest profile among solutions available on the market, and features no protruding elements that could interfere with imaging equipment. This makes the use of a C-arm much easier, and our operating tables offer high compatibility with widely used X-ray imaging systems – explains Michał Grossy.
Easier operating table maneuverability in the operating room
The new solution also introduces a redesigned wheel mounting system. Swivel wheels moving freely in all directions are integrated inside the base, significantly simplifying table maneuvering when positioning it, without the need for figure-eight movements. This mobile design supports quick reconfiguration of the table for subsequent procedures, which is particularly important given the growing number of devices used in modern operating rooms.
– Setting up sometimes even a dozen devices, depending on the procedure being performed, requires a considerable amount of time. Shortening this stage positively affects the ability to perform more procedures and is also important for disinfection and keeping the table clean. Any optimization in this area brings tangible benefits for medical facilities, including cost-related ones – says Michał Grossy.
Operating table with an ultra-precise control system
Complementing the maneuverability features is a novel tabletop positioning control system. Famed Żywiec has developed an innovative solution enabling synchronous and sequential tabletop movements adapted to patient anatomy, with precision reaching 0.5 mm and 0.1 degrees. This level of accuracy makes it one of the most precise solutions on the market. Famed Żywiec is introducing it in electro-hydraulic operating table models.
– Based on our experience, values of 0.5 mm and 0.1 degrees are rarely encountered. The current standard is positioning accuracy measured not in tenths, but within several degrees or centimeters. Such precision is also uncommon in electric tables, although it is easier to achieve there due to the use of electric motors – explains Michał Grossy.

Operating table enhancing surgeon comfort
The design of the new base includes space for the surgeon’s feet on all sides of the operating table, further enhancing comfort during procedures. Maximum proximity to the tabletop ensures better access to the surgical field and prevents surgeons from adopting unnatural postures that can lead to spinal problems.
— The surgeon will be able to stand closer to the table while maintaining a natural posture, which improves working comfort and reduces fatigue resulting from improper body positioning. At the same time, the doctor can safely rest their feet against the base without concern for the structure’s durability. This aspect is extremely important, as medical procedures can last many hours and fatigue may affect their course. Prolonged maintenance of unnatural positions also has long-term health consequences – comments Michał Grossy.
Famed X-Line operating tables
The described solutions will be available in the Famed OPTIMA and Famed PRIME models. The new base is offered in several material variants: carbon fiber, steel, and ABS plastic. Additionally, Famed Żywiec operating tables are equipped with AlterSafe™ technology, featuring two independently operating drive systems: electro-hydraulic and mechanical-hydraulic. This solution ensures that all electric table adjustments remain functional even in the event of electronic system failure or battery depletion. In such cases, the table can be positioned manually.
— We continuously develop our products, adapting them to the needs of physicians. When designing new solutions, we draw on the experience of medical professionals. We combine the features of previously used operating table bases into one comprehensive and functional solution – concludes Michał Grossy, Director of Product Development at Famed Żywiec.
